Getting started with Sim Local

We recommend downloading and installing your eSIM just before you travel and while connected to Wi-Fi. (Perhaps the airport while you’re waiting to board your flight?)

Since activation rules vary slightly between operators, please check your plan before you travel to know when your eSIM's validity period begins and ends. This will help you make the most of your trip. 

There are two ways to download an eSIM via QR code to your iPhone or cellular iPad.

1. Via the Camera App

Open the Camera app and point your camera towards your eSIM QR code.

A yellow prompt will appear on your screen. Tap this and follow the instructions to install your eSIM.

2. Via Settings

1. Go to Settings.
2. Select Cellular or Mobile Data (also known as Mobile Service).
3. Select Add eSIM (also known as Add Cellular Plan, Add Data Plan).
4. Select Use QR Code, and scan this plan.

If you are using iOS 17, you can also scan a screenshot of your QR code:

Via Settings

1. Go to Settings.
2. Select Cellular or Mobile Data (also known as Mobile Service)
3. Go to Add eSIM (also known as Add Cellular Plan, Add Data Plan)
4. Select Use QR Code, and then Open Photos.
5. Select the screenshot of the QR code in your Camera Roll.

On iOS 17.4:

1. Open the email with your activation instructions, or view it in your browser.
2. Tap and hold the QR code, and select the Add eSIM option that appears.

It's easy to install an eSIM manually to your iPhone or cellular iPad. Simply enter the download codes provided with your plan:

1. Go to Settings.
2. Select Cellular or Mobile Data (also known as Mobile Service).
3. Select Add eSIM (also known as Add Cellular Plan, Add Data Plan).
4. Select Use QR Code, and then Enter Details Manually.
5. Copy and paste the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code provided with your plan details.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Go to Connections, then Add mobile plan. This may also be called SIM manager.
3. Select Add eSIM, then Scan QR Code. Select the image icon and select the screenshot of your QR code.

Validity refers to the number of days a plan can be used for.

- Most of our plans are valid for 30 days but some smaller data plans are only valid for 7 days.
- It is best to choose the plan that suits your needs according to how long you are travelling for and how much data you will use.
- The validity period will start when you install your plan or when you land in the relevant country according to the operator you are with.

Please check your plan details for when the validity period starts.

Your eSIM QR code should arrive within a couple of minutes of you purchase.  

Note: If you are a registered customer who purchased your eSIM in the app and wish to activate it at a later date, you should open the app when ready to activate. Click the activate button on the purchased plan for your QR code to be generated and sent.
